The Client's Challenge
Autosound operates from two large commercial workshop units in Bradford where vehicle installations, repairs and modifications take place daily. Following a previous asbestos management survey, asbestos cement roof sheets had been identified across the site and required ongoing monitoring as part of the company's asbestos management responsibilities.
The client needed a competent asbestos surveyor who could safely inspect the identified asbestos-containing materials while working around active workshops, moving vehicles and ongoing installation work. They also required their asbestos management plan and asbestos register to be updated to ensure continued compliance with the Control of Asbestos Regulations.
Our Approach
We carried out a detailed asbestos re-inspection survey across the entire site, revisiting all previously identified asbestos-containing materials and assessing their current condition.
The site consisted of two large workshop units, multiple mezzanine areas, offices and storage spaces covering approximately 6,000m². Due to the fragile nature of the asbestos cement roof sheets, direct access was not possible. Instead, we utilised ladder access and drone technology to safely inspect external roof areas and assess their condition without placing anyone at risk.
As no new suspect materials had been identified since the original survey, additional sampling was not required. All previously identified asbestos-containing materials were inspected, photographed and recorded before the asbestos register and management plan were updated.
The survey was completed with zero disruption to the client's daily operations.

Positive Outcome
The re-inspection confirmed that the asbestos cement roof sheets remained in a manageable condition and could continue to be safely managed in situ. Following the survey, Autosound received an updated asbestos register and asbestos management plan, ensuring they remained compliant with their legal duty to manage asbestos.
